Connor’s Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cookies

by Melanie on October 20, 2008

These cookies are special! My oldest son Connor (yes the same boy who requested the peanut butter fudge cake from last Monday’s post–he really likes the combination) LOVES them and he makes them himself. He is famous for these cookies. Everyone loves them. They are WONDERFUL!! Give them a try! I got the recipe from Melanie G. at the kitchen Cafe. She has a TON of amazing recipes! You should check her blog out!

Ultimate Peanut Butter Cookies

submitted by Melanie (recipe from Kitchen Cafe)

1 ¼ cup flour
¾ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
¼ salt
½ cup butter, softened
1 cup peanut butter
¾ cup sugar
½ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup peanut butter chips
½ cup chocolate chips
Sugar in a bowl for dipping
Preheat oven 350 degrees
In a large bowl, combine the flour, the baking soda, and the baking powder, and the salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and the peanut butter together until fluffy. Add the sugars and beat until smooth. Add the egg and mix well. Add the milk and the vanilla. Add the flour mixture and beat thoroughly. Stir in the peanut butter chips and chocolate chips. Drop Tbsp size rounded cookie dough into bowl of sugar to coat. Place on ungreased cookie sheet leaving several inches between for expansion. Slightly flatten cookies with back of spatula. Bake for 10-12 minutes. The cookies will look underdone. Cool for 1 minute on pan then remove to a rack to cool completely. Yum!!!

Those cookies look perfect! I’m so impressed that your son cooks them–he’ll make his wife very happy someday with that skill?!? I love how perfectly shaped they are. I’ll definitely have to try this recipe. I love all of melanie’s recipes that I’ve tried, too.

Way to go, Connor! I’m completely impressed and I would love it if he wanted to come live with me and make cookies all the time. My boys could learn a thing or two!

These are FANTASTIC! I just made a double batch for our Young Women, as part of a going back to school goodies basket we are doing for them. They will be a hit. :) I love PB cookies, and these are my new favorite. Yum Yum! Thanks for the recipe!
