Saucy Meatball Appetizer

by Brittany on January 14, 2009

This is such an easy, tasty appetizer! My friend Rachel gave me this recipe and I love it. It’s nice to have meatballs that aren’t BBQ for once! This sauce is different and so yummy…hope you enjoy! (The meatballs are pre-prepared frozen ones from Costco (they are delicious) but I’m sure you could make your own instead if you feel very ambitious!)Saucy Meatballs

submitted by Brittany
1/2 bag Italian Style Meatballs from Costco (or 3 lbs~approx. 70 meatballs)
12 oz of cocktail sauce
1 can whole cranberry sauce
1 c brown sugar
1 c water
Combine ingredients (minus meatballs) in a pan and bring to a boil. Pour sauce over meatballs in a crockpot or large pot. Heat to boiling and simmer for 1-2 hours. Simmer longer if meatballs are frozen. Serve with toothpicks and enjoy!

That sounds good. I bet that sauce would be good on little smokies, too. I’m going to give that a try.

I’m not a huge fan of BBQ sauce, so these look great to me!! Wish I had a Costco closer. :(

I’ve been reading your wonderful blog for a while now but haven’t commented yet. Love your recipes. I tried the Crockpot Chicken Tortilla Soup last night, and my husband and I both loved it. So easy and so good! I had some Velveeta left over from another recipe, so I cubed about 4 oz. and threw it in during the last 10 min. of cooking time. It was delish! Keep up the good work.

Mmm… looks yummy, Baba. I’ll have to try it. I love how you have been using cranberry in your cooking lately. I haven’t seen any cranberry bread yet this year, though…. remember you used to make it all the time when you were at home and in college!

These were great, sis! I justed used an entire 1-lb bag of meatballs and there was PLENTY of sauce for all of them, and more. They were a hit – thanks! :)

I have the Costco bag of meatballs on hand and am going to make this for a party this evening. The bag says 5 meatballs per serving and there are 28 servings in the bag which equals 140 meatballs in the bag. Half of the bag would, of course, equal 70 meatballs. Hope this helps!
