Yeah–it is the weekend!! Do you have big plans? Our family will be watching a worldwide General Conference broadcast for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a weekend we look forward to and we like to make it a special family time by preparing treats and activities for the kids while we are watching it at home.
Ideas for snacks and treats on this website are endless! So I will spotlight the recipes that my sisters and I are making, and hopefully some of these will be helpful ideas to you if you are also preparing for a special General Conference weekend. :) For those readers who will not be watching the General Conference broadcasts, maybe these ideas will come in handy for the football games we’re all enjoying lately!
For breakfast try our yummy Breakfast Quiche:
For snacks, I will be making Cinnamon Roasted Almonds:
I think most of us sisters make Cinnamon Rolls for General Conference every year. We make them the night before and put them in the oven in the morning. During the night just set them in a place that is slightly cooler than your home so that they can rise slowly during the night. (In the garage might be a good idea.) Last year I made my favorite Cream Cheese Strudel, which is always a hit. *Oh my goodness, I just realized I haven’t posted that yet! That will be coming soon, I promise! :)
As for activities for children, Bingo Squares, Coloring Sheets and Conference Notebooks can be printed from here. I’ll have Fruit Loops for my kids for the bingo game (big treat around here!). If you do a google search I’m sure you can find some primary-age Activity Packets for younger children. I went through our old Friend Magazines and ripped out all the ‘funstuf’ pages that we hadn’t already done. Those, along with some quiet activities like Melty Beads and Playdo, will keep the little ones content while also helping them listen.
More information on when the sessions will be broadcasted and how to watch them can be found here on lds.org.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
